Re: Free hosting providers [list]

I wouldn't expect anything with free hosting unless it was offered by a good friend. Otherwise I wouldn't dare to use free hosting because I'd except the service to close down at any time.

Re: CMS Script for simple blog

Lately I've been using a small flat-file PHP platform named Bludit. it's really nice, easy to use, easy to backup (just moving files). You write in markdown which I love, and if you're good with PHP you can easily write plugins if you need more features.

Re: CMS Script for simple blog

What host are you using, and are you limited to php scripts?
I think Ghost is really nice, but you need to be more or less developer to install it, or use A small orange for hosting (they have a nice one-click-installer).
Anchor CMS is a nice php script but it has some limitations.

Re: Impending doom

That sounds awful, girl. Over here they treat unemployed people like criminals too and it really really sucks. Isn't there anything you could do to use your web design skills for a living? Freelance of some sort? You could start small in the beginning but at least it would be something for you to fo...

Re: MAMP, anyone?

I'm using AMPPS for Windows. I tried MAMP before on Windows, but AMPPS is built by Softaculous, so there's a Softaculous already pre-installed in AMPPS. As far as I know, I would go to the MAMP folder (or AMPPS in my case) and just manually install all the plugins and stuff from there like I would ...

Re: Help with image in footer.

Have you tried a negative number on margin-bottom? Try that on the body tag. Maybe -15px or similar.

Re: MAMP, anyone?

Elfwink, I'd guess it's rather similar to Xampp. I'm still not used to installing things on my own computer instead of a web host, but I did one Wordpress install that seemed to work fine, but now recently it behaves crazy and doesn't want to upload stuff (import xml from other Wordpress sites, uplo...

MAMP, anyone?

Is anyone developing themes or other things locally on Mac, and familiar with MAMP?

Re: Wordpress - Comment Notification Email Replies

I found a new plugin for this that seems very well working. You can download it on Github or simply search for "comment reply" through Wordpress (but there are tons and tons of irrelevant hits if you do that).

Re: Converting to Static Site Generator

Ghost is really nice. The only thing that I dislike with it is the lack of a comment system, and that they take for granted that everyone wants to use Disqus (which I really think sucks). Hehe, I have a Disqus account myself, but never really used it except for my Tumblr account (which is more of a...
